A call to seek God and follow Christ through a life of radical renunciation and radical commitment is not an easy thing to hear, to process and to follow in today's world.  But there are people who have heard, processed and followed where this call led them...not just a thousand years ago, or even a hundred years, or fifty, but now, in these days.
